Rhino Capture

SANParks Wildlife Veterinary Services vets collect samples from a Rhino that had been darted in an operation to sample and relocate the Rhino to another area within the park. DNA profiling is the newest way of trying to combat Rhino-Poaching which is a major problem in South Africa.

The 6 -7 year old Rhino was darted, captured and samples were taken in an operation that ran like a well-oiled machine. The whole process took 22 minutes and then she was guided to a moving crate and moved to a holding area where she will be relocated to another area within the park.
