Old and unwanted.

A Johannesburg firefighter hoses down a small fire in the old post-office on Rissik street across the street from the Gauteng Legislature building in the Johannesburg CBD.This building in the Johannesburg CBD has been empty since as long as I can remember, surely something can be done with it other than simply letting it rot. Sell it, demolish it, refurbish it, whatever!
Maybe even refurbish it into a type of low cost housing for some of the thousands of people in the city looking for somewhere decent to stay.
I have a theory, the reason that it is so tightly closed up, unlike many other buildings in the CBD that are simply left for squatters to occupy, is simply because its right across the road from the Gauteng Legislature, so the politicians would have to look at it the poor people squatting in it. Now we cant have that..

Speed thrills

At the Southern Equitorial Ferrari Automobili Club's race-day, I had the chance to be driven around the track in one of Forza racing's 360 Modenas, now I thought I have driven fast before, I was wrong, this thing was fast, it cornered like a train and the entire lap felt like it took milliseconds. I WANT THIS CAR ... The petrol cap of a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti on show at Kyalami. The rear grill of the Ferrari F50, probably the most exotic car on the day.

10 years for Bronze

Arnaud Malherbe from the team of 4 relay athletes speaks to the media about his team from the 1999 IAAF World Championships in Seville finally receiving their Bronze medal after America was disqualified due to doping yesterday during the send off held for 31 athletes that will be travelling to Berlin to compete in the 2009 IAAF World Championships. Third place isn't really that good, but it's a lot better than fourth. It must have been nice to find out ten years down the line that you came third, not fourth and finally getting your hands on a medal, bronze isn't much, but its better than a bunch of nothing...
