Burnt Bus

The remains of a bus that caught fire on the R21 highway in Bedfordview near Johannesburg, South Africa.

Traffic was severely affected after the empty bus that was being towed caught fire when a wheel started burning and reached the engine area which caused the fire to engulf the whole bus.

Radovan Krejcirs Kloof road house

The multi million rand home of jailed Radovan Krejcirs house on Kloof road in Bedfordview, near Johannesburg, South Africa ahead of the auctioning of the property by the South African Revenue Service (SARS). Krejcir is awaiting trial for a number of offences and is alleged to be a major player in underground criminal syndicates in South Africa.

An enterprising glazier cuts and sells glass at the side of Esselen road in Etwatwa near Springs in Ekurhuleni after a strong hail storm went through the area yesterday afternoon damaging property in the area.

Scaffolding Collapse on highway.

Paramedics and firemen work to extricate a passenger of a minibus taxi after a scaffolding bridge collapsed on the M1 highway next to the Grayston Ave off ramp in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa. Two people died and 23 people were injured when the scaffolding for a pedestrian bridge fell on the busy highway.

Exercise Young Eagle

An Oryx helicopter flies by during the open day at the culmination of Exercise Young Eagle held at the SA Army Combat training Centre at Lohatlha in the Northern Cape. The exercise includes various units of the army and culminates in the battle at Aasvoelkop in which the Air Force plays a part as well as the armoured units and infantry.

Jugomaro Predator Park

Justin Fernandes with Fido whilst conducting a tour of the facilities during a visit by The Citizen to Jugomaro Predator Park in Groblersdal, Limpopo. The park was in the news a few years back when Panjo (Seen in picture below) one of the parks tigers escaped and recently when the park was liquidated and the animals were darted and packed up in what is alleged to be unprofessional methods and dubious practices when the animals were kept in containers with no professional supervision or care.

Shootout on M1 highway.

One suspect was arrested and one managed to flee on foot after a shoot-out ensued between SAPS and the suspects after the police tried to stop the red car they were travelling in on the M1 South, just after the Grayston off ramp in Sandton.There was an AK47, ammunition and a camera which is believed to have been used to target houses for home robberies.

Denver train crash

Police at a train crash at Denver station in Johannesburg. The crash resulted in one death and over 250 injuries. The collision apparently occurred when the driver of the Business Express (The white train) failed to stop at a red light and collided with the stationary yellow Metro Plus train in Denver station.

Truck accident

Paramedics stabilize a patient trapped in a vehicle at the traffic circle leading from the N3S to Modderfontein road in Edenvale near Johannesburg . The truck that was also involved in the crash hangs above them. According to witnesses the vehicle swerved in front of the truck from the inside lane of the traffic circle and collided with the truck which drove over the vehicle. The driver was ejected and the passenger trapped inside the vehicle. The driver was taken to hospital in a serious condition whilst paramedics worked in the rain to release the trapped passenger.

Stuck truck

A truck stuck under a clearly marked bridge on Elgin Road in Kempton Park near Johannesburg, 9 January 2015. A local said that it happens all the time on this bridge with this being the fourth one in a matter of weeks.
