Taxi violence

A burnt taxi at the Germiston taxi rank after violence erupted in the early hours, 19 February 2010. Taxi violence is constantly simmering over routes and erupts into violence every now and then, generally ending up in some innocent commuter getting shot. The police and the government have no power over the thugs that run this untaxed industry that generates millions of rands.

Airbus A380

An Air France Airbus A380 comes in to land at OR Tambo airport in Johannesburg. This is the second time an A380 has landed at OR Tambo, but its the first commercial flight to land in South Africa.

Shooting

A car that was stolen in Pretoria lies on the pavement next to Fourways Crossing in Fourways after it crashed when police in a helicopter fired on it during a chase. One suspect was arrested but the other managed to get away.
