I really like the picture attached to this blog. From the picture, I really get the sense of the joy that this woman is experiencing. The RDP housing project in South Africa must be doing wonders for the older citizens especially. The low cost housing is very basic- often only having one bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom- but at least it is something.
On the other hand, this welfare-type system is corrupt, as you stated. On the website for the RDP housing, it mentioned that many believe the South African government has neglected its people. There aren't enough houses to place people in, and it takes a lot of time. The only way to get past this is through donations to the project. Perhaps there is a way that this could be publicized more?
